Over and over these tweets rolled in my timeline bumping everyone else out, and I thought that was a pretty jackass way to go about it. When I @replied to her with some better ways of promoting her list, she consequently blocked me and continued her tirade of #followfridays.
The same goes with 140 character blocks of usernames 20-30 times on any given Friday. Yes, there are nice people out there, but do your followers really care, other than those that you have put up for #followfriday? People want context, a couple names here and there, and not to see your whole following list.
If you desire to #followfriday half the people on the list, why not just shortform it to “Here’s the link to my following list >Some Good People ( I follow them) https://twitter.com/insertusername/following
Saves you the time and energy of all the postings, and your followers the advil they don’t have to take that day. Friday’s are supposed to be fun!
So, needless to say, I don’t #ff much. There are a lot of great #hamont and area people doing a great job of it. Recently, I thought I might give it a try, and figure a repeated tweet blog posting would be the best way.
Twitter user @jmoneygambles completely picked the thought out of my head yesterday when he tweeted -
I might have missed it but if you could post a #FollowFriday this week with active #Hamilton #Tweeters it’d be great.
So, not wanting to disappoint, if you are in Hamilton, Ontario and looking for local tweeters, let me recommend:
He’s an admin with the Hamilton Flickr Group, while spending time as a Canadian Firefighter, and self-professed #Apple hashtag. His #iphoneagraphy is amazing, and John regularly shares his photos from wherever he may happen to be.
He was the most talked about intern at The Spectator, in it’s 164 year history. He lit the fire under The Journalistic Giant’s ass this summer, and in conjunction with the web redesign, put them on the path to Social Media connections. It’s too bad the internship ended, because their brand just doesn’t have the same feeling of alive, as it did with Joey providing direction. He’s back to his own time now, while he writes a Globe Campus column online here and you can find his personal musings at joeycoleman.ca
If you’re a fan of the NFL, Patriots in particular, Ryder Cup, Kiss or a lover of jazz, music, concerts, travel, shopping, film, theatre, food, wine, beer, vodka tonic, hot, hazy and lazy days, then follow JT.
TWestofTo is a meeting point, created from the idea of meetups and discussions, by @Merlene and @randymatheson . With this as a starting point, local Twitterers get together over food and drink, usually on Fridays, this week is a Saturday. They produced the Proud Hamilton Hunt back in August and there’s always something going on.
Janet is a virtual assistant, website designer, and blogger. Author of Organizing Your Life, Your Way, she maintains the janetbarclay.com blog as well as the organized treasure trove that is organizing-business.com Her tweets regularly include advice on business success and organization.
Ryan is a programmer who also editors the H Magazine and Raise the Hammer. Both publications are immersed in Hamilton information. There is so much about Ryan McGreal, there’s a table of contents for it on his website QuandyFactory.com
He’s a ‘emerging media consultant’ with a huge knowledge base of how thing’s were, and the intellect to figure out where they are going. Currently he is on vacation in the southern hemisphere. We would Wait and See what he’s been up to down there, but he’s such a technophile, it’s all recorded.
He’s not a scary 15 year old, like 15 years can be scary. Anchoring the morning desk of his high school news has enlightened his path to broadcast journalism. PSA from @mitchburke – Don’t Twitpic your turkey dinner! #signonthedottedline
He is Chris Farias, one of the cool kids at KiteString, a smart and small marketing and design studio. Currently they are helping people brand themselves better digitally, and have the What Was I Thinking contest.
She’s not a native Hamiltonian, having lived here a couple of years. I don’t actually follow her, because she thinks I am an agent of the Gates Foundation and out to do her harm. So she blocked me. I cannot believe that we are so narcissistic in our belief of ourselves that we would just choose to overlook those right in front of us that are crying for help when no one is listening. Chris is very intellectual, but sometimes her tweets go… you’ll just have to find out.
The name is @JMoneyGambles (with an S).
The URL for @Kitestring has two i instead of t in Twitter. It currently goes to one of those directory sites that try to steal Twitter URL typo hits.
Big thanks for the blog post. I added a few of the folks in here. @tWestofTO is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for in terms of organized meet ups.
Hey, thanks for edit. I fixed the things you mentioned. Glad you found something you liked.
